In old Lyon, many streets are connected to each other, through a web of underground tunnels, called “Traboules”. Apparently, these tunnels were used by silk merchants, when Lyon was an important textile center in France, and in Europe. Rumor has it that during the WWII, les traboules were extensively used by “resistance”, against Nazis!
