Piazza della Signoria in Florence is surrounded by beautiful statues. Yet behind this mesmerizing aesthetics, there is a pungent overtone of violence as each and every one of these characters are in the middle of doing something disturbingly violent:  One is about to smash someone else’s head, the other is showing off the head he has just cut off.  Ironically enough among all those lunatics, killing, beheading and raping,  the statue of David – with a slingshot on his shoulder and a stone on his hand, just about to blow Goliath’s brain out – seems innocent!
